DIAL's Investigations Division initiates collections of debts owed to the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as a result of overpayments made to recipients of the Stateβs public assistance programs, including Medicaid, Family Investment Program (FIP), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Promise Jobs, Hawk-i, IowaCare, Child Care Assistance, and Divestiture.
The division also handles inquiries related to tax refunds, child care checks, or lottery winnings being held as a result of delinquent accounts.
If you have applied for or are currenty receiving public assistance benefits and have been contacted by the department; if you have a tax refund, child care check, or lottery winnings being held; or, if you have a debt that is owed to HHS, please contact the Investigations Division using the department's online form, or using the appropriate contact information below.
