Educational Requirement
Applicants must submit the following:
- Official transcripts confirming completion of an occupational therapy degree from an occupational therapy program approved by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education of the American Occupational Therapy Association, sent directly to the board office from the college or university.
- The transcript must show completion of a supervised fieldwork experience.
Foreign-Trained Applicants
Foreign-trained applicants should contact the board office for educational requirements.
Expiration
Limited permits expire on the date on which the exam results become available, or for 6 months after the permit is issued, whichever is sooner.
- Limited permit holders must make arrangements to take the NBCOT examination and have the examination results sent directly to the board office. If a limited permit holder fails the NBCOT examination, they must cease practicing immediately. See Iowa Administrative Code 645—206.3.
NOTE: The name of the supervising occupational therapist is required at the time of application for the limited permit and any changes in the supervising occupational therapist must be reported to the board office within 7 days of any change.
